 The Institute for the Development and Enhancement of Adult Learning (IDEAL), housed at Florida Atlantic University is committed to finding solutions for literacy-related problems that impact the citizens of Florida (See IDEAL model). IDEAL remains vigilant in the search for new learning environments, techniques, and tools in hopes that more adults and their families will be provided with learning opportunities which will break the restrictive forces of illiteracy. 

Through a network of services, IDEAL assists local educational agencies, community based organizations, and business partnerships to better serve the citizenry of Florida. 
Using advances in technology, IDEAL is actively involved in both staff development and technical assistance with its partnering agencies and organizations.

As a part of the Department of Educational Leadership at Florida Atlantic University, IDEAL provides ongoing services to the practitioners, students and staff in the adult education field of South Florida and beyond. IDEAL services agencies involved in adult education, human resource development, community education, and technology integration.

As a Co-Technical Support Institute for the Florida Department of Education Region V Professional Development Council, IDEAL provides technical assistance, support, and staff development for the counties of Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe, Florida.
